Before you call
A few quick checks can sometimes solve the problem — or help us diagnose it faster:
- Clean the lint screen.
- Check the vent duct for kinks and make sure the outside flap opens.
- For electric dryers, check the breaker.
- On gas dryers, confirm the gas supply valve is open.
If your dryer is very hot to the touch or smells of burning, turn it off and unplug it until it has been checked.
